Wood Picket Fencing

Picket fencing provides security, defines boundaries, protects property, establishes entryways, is the easiest to construct, and is the most American of all fencing designs.

Wood Decorative Functions

The versatility of wood picket fencing allows you many architectural styles which are influenced by the surroundings. It can be rustic or traditional, with decorative tops, patterns, curves and arches adding to the fence design.

Because it's wood, the picket fence can be finished with paint or stain, to add a more formal appearance to its surroundings. The fence can serve as a visual point of interest in a landscape or as an attractive background for plants. A traditional picket fence can even help control the climate in your yard by tempering blowing winds.

Your local area will determine which species of wood are readily available. The primary species or groups of wood used in picket fencing are listed below.

Wood Types / Species

  • Western Red Cedar
  • Northern White Cedar
  • Whitewoods
  • Treated

Vinyl Picket Fencing  SEE MORE

Vinyl picket fences are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), extruded with virgin vinyl. The vinyl’s UV inhibitors and additives make it rigid, but flexible enough to resist cracking. The fence consists of vertical pickets that fasten onto dimensional horizontal rails. These rails insert into four-inch square posts. The picket style is available in two widths and three top-configuration options.

Picket fences are predominately for residential use or as accent fences in light commercial applications. These designs are great for marking boundaries without obstructing visibility. The characteristics of this product make it durable and virtually maintenance free.

Features and Benefits

  • Vinyl picket fences are made of virgin vinyl, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), co-extruded for the structural members and mono-extruded for the smaller profiles enhancing strength and durability.
  • UV inhibitors eliminate abnormal discoloration and impact modifiers ensure strength and flexibility.
  • Vinyl will never rot, warp, corrode, rust and never need painting which reduces maintenance costs.
  • Vinyl posts and rails have a heavier wall thickness, respectively than standard vinyl fencing for a sturdier fence.
  • The heavier wall post and rail configuration along with the notched rails contributes to greater resistance to pull-out and stronger fastening.
  • Stainless steel gate hardware will never rust.
  • Selected styles with matching gates and a variety of different post caps complement each style.
  • Available lifetime limited warranty provides the confidence and assurance that you’ve selected the best vinyl fence system available.
